Fancy Wide Brim Leather Hat Red Black and Gold W/2 Large 。This is a beautiful and unusual black felt vintage hat from the 1940s\'! The short crown is pointy, and is surrounded by a very wide brim. The edges of the brim are precisely cut to create a \"fringe\" effect. Two areas of the top, back of the brim are covered in beautiful black and red feathers.There is also a cap under the back covered in red and black feathers, which helps keep the hat in place, in addition to a grosgrain band attached inside. There is also a narrow band of grosgrain creating a bow under the hat, above the feathers. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
